Entry Process

The entry process is simple.

  1. Decide on which categories you are going to enter (you can enter a maximum of 3 categories)
  2. Craft your entry - give it all you've got!
  3. Submit your entry online by the deadline provided.

Once your entry is submitted you will receive a confirmation email so you know it's reached us safe and sound.

Finalists will be announced in September on the website and via social media.

If you are named a finalist you will be asked to meet a judging panel on 23 September. Your interview time and guidelines on how to prepare will be available from your portal. Please note this date cannot be changed so please mark it in your diary.

Winners are announced on the big night in October.

When do the Awards open for entry?

Entries for the Sub36 Awards are now open, since 13 May 2020.

When is the closing date for entries?

Entries for Sub36 Awards 2020 will close at midnight on Friday 28 August, 2020.

What are the Sub36 Award categories?

A full list of award categories are available on the categories page.

How many categories can I enter?

Each individual can enter up to three different award categories.

What is the criteria for entering the awards?

To be eligible to enter any of the Sub36 Award categories you must be aged under 36 on 22 October 2020. The only category this rule does not apply to is the Commitment to Skills Award.

You must also own or work for a business based within the current Lancashire county boundaries. For clarity, this means the business must pay rates in one of the following district or unitary boroughs:

  • Blackburn with Darwen
  • Blackpool
  • Burnley
  • Chorley
  • Fylde
  • Hyndburn
  • Lancaster
  • Pendle
  • Preston
  • Ribble Valley
  • Rossendale
  • South Ribble
  • West Lancashire
  • Wyre
What are the Sub36 Awards rules?

The following rules apply –

  • The organisers reserve the right to amend or remove award categories
  • The organisers reserve the right to re-assign an entry to another category
  • Entrants acknowledge and agree that material from entry forms may be used in the event brochure and other marketing materials
  • Entrants should mark as confidential any elements of their entry they do not wish to be used for the event brochure or other marketing materials and contact us directly to advise
  • Decisions of judges are final.
How do I enter the Awards?

To enter the awards, you must create an online account. This will allow you to view all award categories and entry forms. You can sign in and out of the system to work on your entry form and save it as a draft until you're ready to submit.

What is the best way to enter the Awards?

We suggest you register an account so you can view the entry forms for the categories you wish to enter.

You can work on your entry in our online system by signing in and out and saving your entry as draft.

When you're ready to enter, simply click submit to send us your form.

Do I have to stick to the word count limits?

Yes. You will be unable to exceed the word count limit when you enter your submission into our online entry forms.

What help is available when entering the Awards?

Throughout the entry form you will see an ‘info’ icon next to certain questions. Here we’ve included further information to support you in completing your entry so make sure you hover over the icon to view this.

What happens when I submit by entry?

The online system will show that you have entered the awards once you click submit. You will also receive a confirmation email.

Do I have to pay to enter the Awards?

No. The Sub36 Awards are free to enter.

When does the Award Judging take place?

Once entries have closed, all written submissions are scrutinised by our judges and finalists are announced on 11 September 2020.

Interviews will take place on 23 September at Ewood Park, Blackburn. This date cannot be changed.

What format does the interview take?

Each interview will last 20 minutes.

Following a brief introduction you will have a maximum of 10 minutes for your presentation to the judges, followed by 10 minutes of Q&A from the judges.

When will the finalists be announced?

All finalists will be notified on 11 September 2020 by email.

The information will also be available on the website and through our social media channels.

Finalists will be invited to meet a judging panel for interview on 23 September. This date cannot be changed.
